Intro to Segmented Bowls

Prerequisites:

• In addition to basic knowledge and use of table saw, gluing, thickness planing and turning, students need to supply glue, basic tools, and a face shield for turning

Materials: Wood, clamps and finishing materials included in fee

Objectives:

1. To learn techniques for making segmented bowls: from design
2. to final turning and finishing

Description:

Day 1: Design principals, materials preparation, and beginning construction

Day 2: Cutting rings, and gluing the rings to make boxes

Day 3: Final bowl gluing, mounting on the lathe, and preliminary turning

Day 4(if needed): Final turning, sanding and finishing
