Four Sided Box:Incra Jig

Prerequisites: None.

Materials: 1/4 and 1/2 Baltic Birch

Objectives:

  1. Become proficient on the Incra Jig in making Kleenex boxes, either the taller square boxes, or the longer rectangular boxes or a combination of both. Two major principals to be explored are: the construction of
  2. the boxes, and mass manufacturing strategies. 21 boxes will be made

Description:

Day 1: Install Incra jig on table saw and discuss how it works. Cut side panels and assemble in jig. Set dado blade, make first and second cuts on side panels using spacer adjustment. Parameters are spacing calculations, spacer construction and process description. Laser engraving considerations discussed. Trial assemble boxes.

Day 2: Cut bottom pieces exactly, assemble and glue boxes.

Day 3: Cut top pieces, rout the ovals, and complete multi-part routing on all boxes. Sand, clean and prepare for finishing.
